Hot take: seizing the means of self-sufficiency gets way more traction with the average person than seizing the means of production, because most people don't give a fuck about workers controlling some factory somewhere they'll never visit, but they do give a fuck about having an extra $1,200 a month because it's economically feasible for them to own their own apartment

Just like, hey, what if you weren't trapped in this system where you have to pay a monthly fee in order to continue being alive. Wonder what else we might be able to apply that to. Hmmmmmm

Sometimes it's good to lead with things that are directly relevant to people

@Dayglochainsaw I couldn't agree more. I think there's a lot we can do to carve services out from capitalism that doesn't require some sort of giant movement that most people wouldn't be willing to do. Linux and Mastodon really opened my eyes to that possibility and I've since been wondering what else could be made self-sufficient.
